‘SELENE’ is a crystalline kalimba with a touch of softness. The tone is fresh and bright, and floats away; the sound produces a distant, solitary and slightly melancholic echo – ethereal, almost space-like. The note duration is medium to long, and the volume is louder than on the 34K version.Its soundboard is crafted from a light-coloured wood: ash.
Each “SELENE” kalimba is unique in appearance. Ghostly reflections appear and disappear depending on the angle and the light; the resin art has great depth. The texture of this kalimba lies halfway between moonstone and the moon itself, like a bridge between two worlds. The back of the instrument retains its wooden feel for a better grip and greater warmth.Gem, satellite, goddess of the moon and motherhood – the SELENE kalimba is all of these at once!

Which tuning should you choose?
All our instruments are tuned to 440 Hz , major scale. Whichever tuning you choose, you’ll be able to play the same pieces, as kalimba sheet music is written using numbers: the fingerings will remain the same, and the music will sound slightly lower or slightly higher depending on the tuning you choose.
As each piece of wood is unique, with slight variations in density, we select the tuning that sounds best after several tests. We therefore advise against retuning the instrument to a higher pitch. However, it is generally possible to tune it to a lower pitch.
