BOREALIS delivers a clear sound; the trebles are crystalline yet non-metallic, the mid-range slightly rounded, and the bass rich, full and bouncy, all harmonised within a deep resonance.
BOREALIS is gentle, ethereal and very dreamy, ‘contemplative’
Each BOREALIS is hand-painted with oil paint and then coated in resin, in colours ranging from blue to green, sometimes incorporating shades of purple and red, and dotted with twinkling stars to create a play of light. Each piece is unique. The back of the instrument retains its natural wood texture for a better grip and added warmth.
The scent of the wood is spicy, with hints of leather and musk.

The double kalimba allows for two playing styles:
- With the thumb, like a classic kalimba (it is particularly suited to players with wide fingers, thanks to the wide spacing between the keys)
- With the index and middle fingers, for those who have difficulty gripping or experience pain in their thumbs.

As each piece of wood is unique, with slight variations in density, we select the tuning that sounds best after several tests. We therefore advise against retuning the instrument to a higher pitch. However, it is generally possible to tune it to a lower pitch.
PLEASE NOTE: the instruments are perfectly tuned before dispatch, but they may go slightly out of tune during transport. It is sometimes necessary to retune and readjust them on receipt, as is the case with the vast majority of musical instruments.
